TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) has developed over thousands of years. TCM practitioners address health issues through a variety of psychological and/or physical approaches (such as acupuncture and tai chi) as well as herbal items.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a procedure in which practitioners stimulate particular areas of the body with tiny needles inserted through the skin. Acupuncture has been shown in studies to promote the release of the body’s natural painkillers and to impact parts of the brain involved in pain processing; however, other research shows that real acupuncture and sham acupuncture are equally beneficial, indicating a placebo effect. A lot of studies, however, suggest that true acupuncture may help relieve chronic pain, such as low back pain, neck discomfort, osteoarthritis/knee pain, and carpal tunnel syndrome. It may also aid in the prevention of migraines and the reduction of the frequency of tension headaches. 

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a form of exercise that incorporates postures, gentle motions, mental focus, breathing, and relaxation. According to research, practicing tai chi may enhance balance and stability in older people and those with Parkinson’s disease, reduce discomfort from knee osteoarthritis, aid in the management of fibromyalgia and back pain, and promote quality of life and improve mood in patients with heart failure. 

Herbal Products from China

Chinese herbal products have been examined for a variety of medical issues, including stroke, heart disease, mental disorders, and respiratory ailments (such as bronchitis and the common cold), and a nationwide survey revealed that almost one in every five Americans uses them. Because many research was of poor quality, no definite conclusions concerning their effectiveness can be drawn.
